My name is Erica Fransisca Thajeb. Welcome and thanks for stopping by!
Erica Fransisca Thajeb
There’s absolutely no obligation to read this entire thing. You can skip ahead to my CV.
TL;DR: I’m an English Literature graduate from the University of East Anglia and an Indonesian born and bred. This blog covers everything from books and travel to random life stories and personal journalism projects.
Why a blog?
I started my first blog in 2016 but was never consistent with it. I’d write five posts in three days, then ignore it for an entire year. In May 2020, I impulsively purchased this domain for three years. So yeah, now I’m committed to this thing.
On a serious note, I’ve always been passionate about storytelling and literature. I’m a sucker for written words in all shapes and forms: novels, biographies, newspaper features, blogs, poetry, and even song lyrics. It’s just so incredible how strings of alphabets can represent the most abstract of ideas.
I thought: I love writing, but what a shame it’d be if my work exist only to rot within the pages of my own journal, never seen by another soul. So might as well share that with the world, right?
Call it the selfish desire to “leave a legacy” or tell my story to whoever is willing to listen, but I do hope this blog can offer you some kind of value.
Whether that’s the motivation for a productive summer and keeping fit at home, useful travel tips about foods in Iceland and surviving long economy flights, free reading recommendations, or simply fun content that you can enjoy!
Up for some crazy stories?
I may not be the most adventurous person out there, but I’ve experienced some pretty absurd stuff. For example, I ran a half marathon at fifteen with no training and zero race history. Although bigger props to my brother, who was twelve at the time.
My craziest travel story? I was in a sinking boat once during our trip to Raja Ampat. Obviously, that didn’t deter me and my family. We came back the year after for an amazing vacation.
I love books
I’m a major bookworm and it’d be awesome to share some of the books I’ve read with you. One of my all-time favorites is The Graveyard Book. Also, take a look at my best books of 2021 for some quick recommendations.
And writing!
I write lots of random things, but mostly short stories because I still haven’t figured out how to finish a novel 🙂 You can check out some of my flash fiction here. Sometimes I write poetry (that I won’t claim to be good), like Maybe Your Existence Was Enough, Home Less, when this is over, and The Piano’s Ballad.
Now onto the serious stuff:
